La actuación, que cambiará la orientación de la instalación, tendrá un coste de 90.490 euros
Benidorm awards the reconstruction of the sports court of Ciudad Deportiva 'Guillermo Amor'
Benidorm City Council, through the Local Government Board (JGL), has approved the award of the contract for the reconstruction of the outdoor sports court of the Ciudad Deportiva 'Guillermo Amor' for a budget of 90,490.23 euros. This action has a subsidy of 69,719.09 euros from the 'Plan + Sport' of the Provincial Council of Alicante. The rest of the amount will be provided by the City Council.
The reconstruction of the track will entail a change in its orientation, as explained by the Councilor for Sports, Mariló Cebreros, who recalled that "the track is very deteriorated and practically in disuse", hence "a renovation total with which to recover its use and at the same time improve the accesses and connections of the Sports City itself”.
This comprehensive renovation will involve changing the surface of the track and rotating its orientation 90º, "which will make it possible to create a new access road for emergency vehicles to the upper part of the sports complex from the adjoining pine forest." In addition, the action will give the track "lateral sunlight that favours its use at any time of the day." Similarly, the project includes the renovation of the lighting columns "to implement the 'led' system to improve lighting and obtain energy and economic savings". The current spotlights will be replaced by 200W and 28,000 lumens 'led' technology "which not only promotes energy savings but also a reduction in the carbon footprint".
The mayor has indicated that the sports court on which action is going to be taken "was the only one that remained pending improvement in the Sports City, in which constant investments have been made in the last six years to update practically all the infrastructures sports”.
The track is more than ten years old and with a "significant deterioration" of its pavement as a result of disuse and the passage of large-tonnage vehicles that enter the sports centre from a path parallel to it. With this intervention, this problem is solved and adequate practice of sports modalities will be allowed.
