The School Council supports the request of the educational community of Leonor Canalejas to recover as soon as possible the closed multipurpose building
The Municipal School Council has approved to ask the Ministry of Education to implement eleven new training cycles for 2017/2018 academic year in five institutes of Secondary Education in Benidorm and in the Lasvi Academy. The petition includes basic, middle and higher grades and, if they are implemented, they would be added to the approximately 45 that are already included in the city's training offer. The list of degrees to apply for the next course was approved yesterday during the meeting of the Municipal School Council held in El Torrejó and was presided over by the mayor, Toni Pérez, who also holds the delegation of Education. For centers, the Municipal School Council will request three media training courses for the IES Beatriu Fajardo de Mendoza: Electromechanics of motor vehicles, Electrical and automatic installations, and Care for people in a situation of dependency. The educational community also wants to expand in three cycles the training offered in IES Bernat de Sarrià, in this case with the basic grades of Arrangement and repair of textile and Leather goods and Upholstery and Curtain, and with the higher degree of Aesthetics Integral and Well-being, to obtain the title of superior technician in this matter. For the IES L'Almadrava the middle degree in Sanitary Emergencies and two superiors are demanded: Landscape and rural environment, and Oral hygiene. For both IES Pere Mª Orts i Bosch and for the Mediterranean, a new degree has been requested in each center: Conducting physical and sporting activities in the natural environment, and the basic dregree in Accommodation and laundry for the second. Finally, it is intended that the Conselleria authorize the higher degree of Aesthetics Integral and Well-being in the private center Academia Lasvi.

During the same meeting, the Municipal School Council has endorsed the complaint of the educational community of the public school Leonor Canalejas, who has sent a letter to the department in order to, "as soon as possible" assume "the commitment" of "demolition and reconstruction of the building where the kitchen, dining room, multipurpose room and warehouse were located which, due to the structural deficiencies detected, had to be closed down. " In this regard, the mayor recalled that "from the City Council we will assume the demolition of the damaged building in order to maximize the construction of the new dependencies by the Conselleria." According to the project commissioned by the City Council, the cost of demolition is around 75,000 euros, an amount to be included in the municipal budget of 2017.
