The budget for the first phase amounts to 1,119,211 euros and will have an execution period of ten months

Benidorm approves the project for the comprehensive renovation of Montecarlo avenue

07 December 2021
Aprueban la Renovación Integral Avenida Montecarlo

The action includes the renovation and adaptation of the hydraulic pipes and other affected services such as lighting and gardening

The Local Government Board (JGL) of Benidorm City Council has today approved the project for the renovation of drinking water and sanitation infrastructures on Montecarlo Avenue Phase I, which covers the section from Berlin Street to Paris Street, of around 500 meters in length, whose budget for this phase amounts to 1,119,211.31 euros without VAT, according to Mayor Toni Pérez.

Now the City Council will request Hidraqua to present a proposal for financing the project from the Service Renewal Funds, in which the multi-year planning of its execution during the years 2022 and 2023 is considered.

The start of the works, the mayor has indicated, will take place before Easter once the tender, which will be done through open competition. The action will have an approximate execution period of ten months.

The project, therefore, contemplates the integral renovation and adaptation of the existing or necessary hydraulic pipes, as well as the services directly affected by said works. It is considered that "a condition greater than 50% would imply a complete renewal of the corresponding service".

In this sense, the technical report details that these conditions in the paving "are high, especially on the road, since at least 60% of it has a direct relationship with the hydraulic works to be undertaken".

The works will consist of the renewal of drinking water pipes, sewerage, rainwater network and reclaimed water. "It is necessary to undertake these works because the pipes and conduits are very old, they have become obsolete and must be replaced," explained Toni Pérez, who indicated that with current conduits "there are significant losses of water because they have been in existence for more than 40 years. antiquity".

The project indicates that 77% of the actions are directly linked to the renewal of hydraulic infrastructures "while the rest is to renew the lighting, trees and part of the pavement in the area."

Once the action is completed, "accessibility problems will have been eliminated with the placement of ramps and zebra crossings, the street will have the character of a bicycle lane and the current number of car parks will be maintained."

On the other hand, Hidraqua concessionaire has presented a Memory of Improvements that could be taken into account as criteria for evaluating the offers submitted to the tender. Among them, the proposal cites improvements to Lisboa, Londres, Amsterdam and Bruselas streets.

"In the planning of the works we are going to take into account that they can be carried out with the minimum effects on the residents of this area," said the mayor, who also detailed that the comprehensive renovation of Montecarlo avenue will consist of four phases.
