The City Council has obtained a grant from the Alicante Provincial Council of one million euros
Benidorm approves the bases of the aid to the hotels that participated in the Imserso in 2022
These aids will reach 28 establishments in the city, with amounts ranging from 7,800 to 147,000 euros
The Local Government Board (JGL) of Benidorm is the bases that will govern the granting of aid to the hotels in Benidorm that participated in the Imserso program in 2022. Aid that is fully financed through a subsidy from the Provincial Council of Alicante that exceeds one million euros and that will reach a total of 28 establishments, as reported today by the mayor, Toni Pérez.
The mayor has pointed out that "the aid line of the Provincial Council has an endowment of just over 1.4 million, of which one million will reach Benidorm, which shows, once again, the tourist weight of the city and its contribution to the provincial and regional economic activity”.
Toni Pérez recalled that "this aid comes to support the tourism sector in the province of Alicante and very specifically the hotels that have made their facilities available to the Imserso, and that at the excessively low price of the social program set by the Ministry of Social Affairs Social have had to add the general increase in energy costs and all goods and services.
The refusal of the Ministry to review the prices of Imserso in the terms demanded by the sector and the fact that the costs have not stopped growing in the last year and a half "has greatly stressed the economic situation of the establishments that participate in the program; This situation is partly offset by this aid from the Provincial Council, managed by the City Council and which will reach the city's hotels attached to the Imserso”, explained the mayor.
As established in the Provincial Council call, each beneficiary hotel will receive 3.30 euros per day and a room occupied by the Imserso program between February and December of last year. According to the calculation made by the provincial body based on the room occupancy data of these establishments, “the beneficiary hotels will receive direct aid ranging from 7,801.20 to 147,160.20 euros; amounts that are already nominally collected in the summons of the Diputación”.
The requirements that companies benefiting from the aid must meet are included in the bases approved today and which will be published in the Official Gazette of the Province in the coming days. Exactly from the day after this publication and for ten days, hotels may request assistance online through the Electronic Office of the City Council -https://benidorm.org-. The deadline to resolve these aids is September 1.
Toni Pérez stressed that “Imserso is a social program that, on the one hand, ensures that older people can enjoy vacations at affordable prices; and on the other, it contributes to maintaining activity and employment in the tourism sector beyond the high season, seasonally adjusting destinations and generating economy”.
"To fulfill both purposes - he stressed - the amount received by the hotel must cover the costs, something that has not happened in recent campaigns due to the refusal of the Ministry to increase the prices of the program in the percentages and terms indicated by the sector, not even at a time of inflation like the current one”.
