A recognition of the solidarity of this town in the Marina Baixa during the severe drought of 1978
Benidorm allocates 8,000 euros to the Festivities in honor of the Mare de Déu dels Dolors de Beniardà
This morning, the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and the first mayor of Beniardà, Rafaela Llorens, have signed the renewal of the collaboration agreement between both towns that, on the occasion of the celebration of the patron saint festivities in honour of the Mare de Déu dels Dolors, will take place in this municipality of the Marina Baixa from August 6 to 9. The event was also attended by the Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles.
The agreement recognizes the solidarity of Beniardà during the serious drought of 1978 that allowed prospecting to be carried out in its municipal area to search for the water resources that Benidorm needed. The gesture made it possible to guarantee the supply of the population and tourism in times of greatest scarcity.
Therefore, as a sign of gratitude, Benidorm City Council has been allocating a small part of its budget for carrying out acts and activities framed within the Beniardà Patron Saint Festivities, which on this occasion will amount to 8,000 euros, an amount that will be paid before the start of the festivities.
