The mayor of Benidorm Toni Pérez, attends today in Madrid to the thirteenth edition of the Sustainable City Awards granted by the Environmental Forum Foundation with support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and sponsorship of Ecoembes. Our city has been named one of the two finalists, including 300 Spanish cities, in the category of Water Cycle, following the proposal submitted by the Hidraqua, the dealership, and maintains the posibility to win the award that will be presented this afternoon by Minister of Environment, Isabel García Tejerina.
Toni Perez said that it is an "an impressive recognition" of management. The mayor made share in this recognition not only to the municipal institution, but also to companies involved in the management, like the Water Consortium and the users. We "can say loud and clear that Benidorm is already a finalist "in these important environmental awards.
Benidorm has developed an efficient water management system and an infrastructure of new network.
The jury of the 'Sustainable City' award is made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Generalitat Valenciana, the Government of Andalusia, the Canary Islands Government, the municipalities of Madrid and Barcelona, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces ( FEMP) and the winner of the 2015, the city of Pamplona.
The Sustainable City Awards are presented annually in recognition of municipalities that enhance, through actions and projects, the environment and sustainability.
