Benidorm advances to this Saturday, June 5, the launch of '# BenidormMásCerca' initiative, which offers the first hour of free parking in 5 'car parks' to people who consume more than 20 euros in commercial establishments , leisure, catering and hospitality in the city. The Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, and Álex Frattini, representing business associations, recalled that the '# BenidormMásCerca' program seeks to “promote consumption and the economic reactivation of Benidorm, favoring parking, especially in the downtown area ”.
Frattini recalled that ‘# BenidormMásCerca’ arises “from the joint work and agreement among the City Council, the business entities and five car parks in the city”, and reaches “1,500 parking spaces”. Specifically, the four public car parks in the city - Aigüera, Tomás Ortuño, Mercado and Ametlla del Mar- and one private car park –Ruzafa- have joined this initiative, which translates into four parking options in the downtown area and one in Rincón de Loix.
De Zárate thanked the five 'car parks' that have adhered to this campaign, and make available to the city "such a large number of parking spaces" especially "if we take into account that some of them are already signing occupations above 90% on weekends ”.
In this regard, the Councilor for Mobility has reported that "in recent weekends more than 20,000 vehicles have entered", and also "important data on consumption in bars, restaurants and shops, which are not yet at the level of 2019 but that they do confirm a recovery in activity and that they anticipate that 2021 could be a good summer ”.
In addition to free parking for the first hour, '# BenidormMásCerca' foresees other actions “that will be launched in the coming days and throughout the month of June”, such as “the installation of 10,000 information posters of the campaign” and the installation of 15 directional signs that “will mark the route from the main entrances to Benidorm to the nearest car parks”, and which will also provide information on the location of beaches, shopping, leisure and restaurants and other points of interest. Three monoposts and screens will also be installed at the three main entrances to the city -on Juan Pablo II avenues, Beniardá and Comunidad Europea-, in which information about this campaign and promotional videos of the destination will be displayed.
To further disseminate ‘# BenidormMásCerca’ program, “50 billboards will be placed in different municipalities of the region” and radio spots will be broadcast.
Likewise, the mayor has advanced that "in the coming days we will continue with the working groups between the departments of Mobility, Commerce and Local Development and the business associations to finalize other measures that favor the achievement of the objectives of‘ # BenidormMásCerca ’".
