Benidorm adapts the services of the local police in school zones due to short working day

30 September 2016
Benidorm adapta los servicios de la Policía Local en las zonas escolares a la jornada continua

A minimum of 14 agents will control traffic in schools

It has been established an experimental schedule, which is adjusted according to the flow of students

Benidorm City Council has adapted traffic control services that local police performs in school zones due to short working day starting on Monday, October 3, in ten schools in the city. A service fully guaranteed as always," stated the councillor for Public Security, Lorenzo Martínez. Martínez explained that "with the implementation of the short working day it has been necessary to propose changes in the schedule of the agents who provide these services during the morning as the new timetables of the centers, between 14.00 and 14.15 - coincide with the shift change of these effective. " So, next week at least 14 officers will be targeting these work in the morning shift, they will start their workday at 06.45 hours and will end at 15:15. The councilman for Human Resources, Jesús Carrobles, indicated that this change affects only schedules of agents responsible for regulating traffic in school zones and not for the rest. Carrobles clarified that this schedule was approved yesterday in the General Negotiating Table. This schedule will be only operating during the school calendar, and not at weekends and holidays. In this regard, it was detailed that "for the moment we do not know the exact percentage of students in each school who will leave the center when the school finish, how many will do after dining and how many will attend school activities." "Once we have this information and see how it works next week, we can bring changes," he added. As agreed in the General Negotiating Table on Monday 10 October the chief of the local police will submit a report on how it has worked this experimental schedule. The next day a meeting with municipal representatives and unions to address possible changes is planned; and a new General Committee with the best proposal will be held on October 13. Schools where from Monday will start operating the short working day are: Miguel Hernández, El Murtal, Serra Gelada, Leonor Canalejas, Ausiàs March, La Cala, Vasco Núñez de Balboa, Els Tolls, Aitana and Puig Campana.
