The VII Digital Tourist Congress organized by Ametic, the association of the Spanish technology and digital industry, finished this afternoon with the delivery of the Digital Tourist 2024 awards and the official closing ceremony. A congress in which, over two days, the challenges of the sector for the future and the path that smart tourist destinations must follow to remain successful have been analyzed. An event in which the emphasis has once again been placed on the importance of data to improve the management of destinations or the experience of tourists.
The president of Ametic, Pedro Mier, pointed out in his speech to close the event the nature of “anticipation and promotion of collaboration” that the congress has had and has exposed the challenge that the country must face in the next years. “Spain is a global tourism benchmark and now we have to make it so in the digitalization of tourism,” he stated.
Toni Pérez, mayor of Benidorm, closed the congress and highlighted that "tourism and technology go hand in hand", in addition to showing his desire for the eighth edition of Digital Tourist to be held in Benidorm in 2025. “We are waiting for you here next year,” he said.
Pérez also praised the “visionary” character of Ametic and advanced that the consolidation of the congress “will mean that everything that comes will be a lot.” The mayor has also picked up Pedro Mier's glove and has highlighted the “power” of the Spanish technology industry to become a benchmark in tourism digitalization.
On the other hand, the hotel association Hosbec has received one of the awards presented today by Digital Tourist, specifically in the Tourism Sustainability category for its project 'Hotel Tourism Sustainability Dashboard' designed by Hosbec and Bioscore. An award that has been collected by the general secretary, Maite García, and by the CEO of Bioscore, Victori Monzón.
