The City Council requests a grant from the Ministry to hire the technical staff that will be in charge of developing the projects agreed for the period 2023-2024

The agrement for Employment in the Marina Baixa, chaired by Benidorm, begins its activity

14 March 2023
Pacto Empleo de la Marina Biaxa

The aim is to promote specialized professional training, business management capacity and the labor insertion of priority groups

Barely four days after the Governing Council of the Marina Baixa Employment Agreement was set up, the body chaired by Benidorm has already started up. Thus, Benidorm City Council, as president of the Agreement, has requested a subsidy of 194,541.67 euros from the Ministry of Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors, Commerce and Labor to hire the technical staff that will develop the joint projects agreed by the municipalities of the Marina Baixa.

Thus, after the Governing Council authorized Benidorm City Council to carry out the necessary procedures to process this subsidy, the Local Government Board (JGL) has today approved its application, which is accompanied by a report detailing the activities and projects and objectives to be achieved in the period 2023-2024. This approval comes one day after the technical meeting held yesterday in Benidorm and in which, in addition to technicians, the mayor, Toni Pérez, and the Councilor for Employment and Local Promotion, Mónica Gómez, participated.

Gómez, Benidorm's representative in the Marina Baixa Employment Agreement, explained that "the bulk of the subsidy will go to hiring technical personnel who will be in charge of preparing the planned projects and putting them into march and operation of the Pact itself”. Specifically, it is planned to hire two technicians (one of whom will act as coordinator) and a worker who will provide administrative support. All of them will exercise their functions from Benidorm.

Gómez indicated that, as determined by the Governing Council, the action projects for the 2023 and 2024 annuities are the impulse of specialized professional training and business management capacity, as well as the labor insertion of priority groups.

As indicated in the report that is transferred to the Ministry, "the necessary plans will be promoted to take advantage of the sources of labor insertion detected, and coordinate public policies to insert job seekers into the labor market and, especially, women, young people and people over 45 years of age. In addition, they are going to "carry out training policies and programs" that "makes it possible to optimize the relationship between supply and demand in the labor market" of the Marina Baixa, "with special attention to the group of young people", as well as "promote the development business management capacity”.

In the same way, the agreement wants to update the territorial diagnosis of the Marina Baixa area within the framework of the Avalem Territori program, in collaboration with the University of Alicante.

The mayor advanced that "the intention is to be able to incorporate this personnel as soon as possible so that all the machinery of the Agreement for Employment of the Marina Baixa begins to be at full capacity as soon as possible and thus advance in the achievement of the projects."
