For two days Benidorm will bring together the best specialists in health care aimed at the ‘trans’ collective

Actitude, a medical congress to bring transsexuality to people

01 October 2019
Actitude, un congreso médico para acercar la transexualidad a la gente

On October 14 and 15, the second edition of Actitude will be held in Benidorm, days of nature trans ’. A medical congress organized by the Department of Equality with the support of the Department of Universal Health and Public Health and coordinated by Trans · Socialmedia.

The councillor of Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, together with the journalist and director of Trans.Socialmedia, Carolina Laferre, today have presented these days that will make Benidorm an obligatory reference point in the field of Equality, given the prestige and curriculum of the specialists who will intervene.

The congress aims to move “towards equity in the well-being and health” of transgender people, emphasizing “trans health care,” said Zaragozí, who thanked Carolina Laferre for making visible the problem in our country that the collective suffers.

"What we want, Laferre said in her speech, is to bring transsexuality to people from the scientific side." Hence the coincidence in Benidorm of the best specialists in a country in which "it is easier for an animal to have rights than a transsexual woman," the journalist has meant.

Laferre has lamented the widespread ignorance in Spain of trans reality. To overcome it, a good strategy is to start with health and then “approach companies, or corporate entities” because transsexual people “here we are and have always been,” Laferre has made clear.

Today, pediatrician Silvia Aznar, responsible for Trans Minors, has confirmed their presence in Actitude Benidorm; Rosa Almiral, gynecologist, director of Trànsit, an entity through which more than 1,400 patients from all over Spain have passed; Alicia de Benito, pharmacologist; Ana Peiró, responsible for the Pain Unit of the General Hospital of Alicante; Anna López, coordinator of Catalan Health Service (CatSalut), a benchmark for surgical care for transsexual women; Immaculada Amador, clinical psychologist of Doctors of the World; Daniel Cortez, surgeon, gynecologist and HIV specialist; Gregorio Gómez Bajo, plastic surgeon of the General Hospital of Albacete: Sara Giol, physiotherapist specialist in pelvic floor; and Marta Reina, the first police, trans who will soon have a surgery.

Actitude has established its headquarters in the room of Culture of the CAM, in Alameda Street, 17 in Benidorm. On Monday, activities will begin at 9.30 am and will last until 19.00. This day the reference film ‘Girl’ by Lukas Dhont will be screened at 4:00 p.m. On Tuesday, conferences will also start at 9.30; The final act of farewell is scheduled to begin at 2.20 p.m.
