Benidorm has asked the Generalitat for a grant to hire 30 unemployed young people under 30 years of age within the EMCUJU program

49 young graduates hired by the City Council with European funds finish their service

11 July 2019
Finalizan su servicio los 49 jóvenes titulados contratados por el Ayuntamiento con fondos europeos

The 49 young graduates who have been contracted by the City Council for one year with European funds through the EMCUJU program -Avalem Joves Plus- end these days with their services in the different municipal departments in which they have carried out their work.

The Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez, recalled that "the City Council received, through Labora-Valencian Employment and Training Service, a grant of 819,211.56 euros from the Youth Employment Operational Program of the European Social Fund (ESF) ) 2014-2020 for the hiring of young graduates under 30 years of age in unemployment situation ". These young people joined the City Council in two rounds - July 10 and 16, 2018 - and depending on their training they have served, among others, in the departments of Social Welfare, Commerce, Sports, Employment Agency and Local Development, Education, Intervention, Environment, Press and Tourism; highlighting the work done in the Smart Office.

Gómez has indicated that this program "has been very positive for both parties. For the City Council, because the work done by these young people has contributed to improve some services and to strengthen the personnel assigned to some departments. And for the participants, because they have increased their work experience in occupations in which they had training, but little experience, thus improving their employability levels ". "In fact, to date nine of these young people have caused voluntary resignation in the program to have found work," he said.

The mayor has reported that "for this year we have requested Labora a subsidy of 498,783.96 euros, which would allow a total of 30 young unemployed for a period of 12 months." "At this time," he added, "we are waiting for the resolution that confirms the end of the grant to start processing this new call for the EMCUJU program."

Finally, it has encouraged "young people to enroll in the National Youth Guarantee System, an essential requirement to take part in this program and also in EMPUJU, also aimed at children under 30, in this case without qualification". This registration can be made at the Youth Information Center (CIJ) of Benidorm.
