1,200 primary students live their baptism of the sea with the Department of Sports
The eighteenth campaign of 'Baptism of the Sea' for schools in Benidorm continues in the facilities of the Yacht Club with the participation of 4th, 5th and 6th grade students who have the opportunity to get to know and start sports such as sailing, kayak and alternative games.
The Councilor for Sports, Arturo Cabrillo, has accompanied the kids throughout the morning while they made their first sailor knots, they were taught theoretical knowledge of navigation and they were explained the basic principles of safety at sea. Cabrillo recalled that participation in these activities "is completely free, as well as transportation from schools" which is covered by the City Council. The mayor has announced that it is expected to receive the baptism of sea about 1,200 schoolchildren in Benidorm during this year's campaign.
Among other activities, students will learn about the sea museum, the pier and the breakwater of the port. During all the time, the students are permanently accompanied by municipal sports technicians.
