The seventh edition of Great Recitals Cycle, organized by the Department of Culture coordinated by Jaime Jesús Pérez, has begun tonight, at 8:00 p.m., with a piano concert, in the Assembly Hall of the City Council, by Dúo Van Duá that has performed a program made up of some of the best Spanish composers of the 20th century.

The concert has been held following the protocols issued for this type of event by the health authorities. Thus, to access the Assembly Hall it has been necessary to show the Covid-19 passport and the use of the face mask has been mandatory throughout.

Dúo Van Duá is made up of the pianist and repertorist of instruments at 'Óscar Esplá' Conservatory of Music in Alicante, Pamela Pérez and the piano teacher at 'José Pérez Barceló' Municipal Conservatory in Benidorm, Pedro Mercado, who, after a long professional career, they decided to create the duo in 2008 with which they have recorded two compact discs.

The program of this first great recital performed by Dúo Van Duá has been made up of 'Pavana Capricho Op 12' and 'Suite Española Nº 1, Op 47', both by Isaac Albéniz; 'La Procesión del Rocío', by Joaquín Turina; 'Dos danzas de la vida breve', by Manuel de Falla; 'Triana' by Enrique Granados; and 'Danzas Andaluzas', by Manuel Infante.

Albéniz, Turina, Falla, Granados and Infante are renowned and prolific authors of Spanish art music from the first half of the 20th century. With romantic airs and folkloric roots, they knew how to introduce popular instruments into the orchestras, giving it a personality and prestige recognized throughout the world.
