The Culture Department has scheduled a new edition of ‘Benidorm en Dansa’ this Thursday to showcase local talent
Benidorm City Council's Department of Culture has scheduled a new edition of the "Benidorm en Dansa" festival for this Thursday, April 30th. Students from the dance schools and the Municipal Elementary Conservatory will take centre stage, showcasing local talent. The Councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, noted that "this is an activity we successfully revived last year after almost three decades of absence" and invited the public "to come to l'Aigüera Park to enjoy this show, which, as we saw last year, is of a very high standard."
Jaime Jesús Pérez recalled that "Benidorm en Dansa" draws from the festival that the Benidorm City Council organised for years until almost three decades ago, when it was discontinued as part of the municipal cultural program. Last year, the Department of Culture revived this evening dedicated to dance, with the collaboration of all the academies, resulting in “a show on par with the biggest companies, so this year we wanted to maintain this event and continue to promote and showcase the talent of our dancers,” the councillor added.
The festival will take place this Thursday, April 30, starting at 8:00 p.m., in the Julio Iglesias Auditorium in Parque de l’Aigüera, with free admission until capacity is reached. The audience will enjoy a carefully curated selection of choreographies in different styles, from classical ballet to modern, regional, and contemporary dance, offering something for everyone.
The dances will be performed by students from the dance schools of Pilar Segura, Paqui Mora, Daniela Arnoldo (Lope de Vega), Rosa Martínez, María José Moya, and the Municipal Elementary Dance Conservatory.
The Councillor for Culture expressed his confidence that this second edition of the revived ‘Benidorm en Dansa’ will serve to “definitively consolidate this festival as an essential event for lovers of art, culture, and movement, in a unique open-air setting with Benidorm as its backdrop.”
‘Benidorm en Dansa’ complements the dance-related programming that Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Culture, organises throughout the year, which includes ‘Les Ones’ Contemporary Dance Festival, taking place at the end of June, and other dance activities and performances held at the Cultural Centre.
