Toni Pérez demands from the Administrations on October 9 a "careful consideration on the importance and reality of Tourism"

In this appointment, the mayor has called on the Public Administrations "commitment" and "a careful consideration on the importance and reality of Tourism, even beyond what this activity supposes as an economic vector", especially at a time like the present marked by many months of pandemic. A Tourism, he has affirmed, which is "an emotional and cultural vaccine, and a recovering element of normality in our lives."

During his intervention, Toni Pérez had a "fond memory and from the heart with those who have not been able to overcome" Covid-19 or "have suffered it cruelly." Along with this memory, "a sincere thanks, and every day bigger, to those who continue to dedicate hours and shifts to attend to the fight against the pandemic"; and "a rousing applause for all the professionals - without distinction - who have been and continue in the daily struggle to try to minimize their impact on our lives."

The mayor highlighted that "Benidorm has, from minute zero, been committed to its people and activities, to families, to its companies and businesses, with the audacious effort of each and every one to get ahead." "We have attended to the urgent and the important," he added, "but above all and first, to the people."

In all these months, he stressed, "we have demonstrated the capacity for resilience and knowing how to work, focus on situations and provide solutions", and at this time "we can show management confirmed by figures that have allowed us to overcome particular and collective situations never imagined".

On "the great day of the Valencian Community", Toni Pérez wanted to raise "together with our Senyera" the flags "of optimism and resilience" so typical of Benidorm, a city that "based on the benefits that Nature he has given, he has forged his future based on effort, work, stubbornness, capacity for acceptance, improvement and tolerance ”, establishing himself as a“ tourist leader ”.
The mayor has established as “premises that make up this singular date”, “defending the role of our people within the Valencian identity”, “always claiming what by right belongs to us” and “not forgetting where we come from or where we go".

Toni Pérez has opted to "persevere to go further, without ever giving up improving the future of those who come after" in "a land of opportunities" and that "he has always given more than he has received and, even so, continues undaunted going to more ”and“ being better ”.

Likewise, he has reaffirmed the city's “full and loyal” commitment to the Valencian Community; and after "demanding reciprocity" he has assured "that our drive will always go further, making a homeland from loyalty and defending our identity" because "we are Benidorm".

Finally, in the centenary year of the birth of Pere Mª Orts i Bosch, the mayor has reproduced a few words from the Premio de les Lletres Valencianes addressed to Benidorm and its people. "To the town of Benidorm I want you to continue to be in Benidorm, let them be careful not to lose what they are, because one thing is the number of inhabitants, the highest towers of Europe and the one that is vullga, but the true one Essence is the essence of people, of the way of being, of the way of thinking and of having a personality ”. An essence that, according to Pere Mª Orts, “és fruit de molts anys d’història i de generacions que han viscut allí. I això és molt difícil de refer si es perd, que no es refà”.

Previamente al discurso institucional del alcalde, se ha procedido a la entrega de la Distinció Cultural ‘Ciutat de Benidorm’, que en este 2021 ha recaído en la Agrupación Coral de Benidorm. El presidente de la Comisión Técnica encargada de este galardón, el catedrático Rafael Alemany, se ha referido a la “brillante y meritoria trayectoria” de la entidad a lo largo de sus 40 años de historia, tiempo en el que “ha impregnado el tejido social y musical benidormer” y en el que ha “contribuido a proyectar” la “realidad cultural” de Benidorm “dentro y fuera de España”.
 
Desde su nacimiento en 1981, con un doble concierto en el desaparecido Cine Capitol, “el currículum de la Coral ha construido un largo repertorio con diversos conciertos tanto en Benidorm como fuera de nuestra geografía local”, con actuaciones en “las que las voces de la Coral se han escuchado” en diferentes lugares de España y también en países europeos como Alemania, Bélgica, Italia o Francia. 

Además, durante muchos años la Agrupación Coral organizó diversas actividades que enriquecieron la actividad cultural de Benidorm, como la Semana de la Música Sacra de Benidorm, “excelente iniciativa de primera magnitud y gran proyección”; o conjuntamente con el Ayuntamiento el Certamen Escolar de Canto Coral.

Durante su relato, Rafael Alemany se ha referido a los directores y personas que han presidido la Agrupación Coral a lo largo de su historia, incidiendo en su actual presidenta, Beatriz Farach, quien ha recibido la Distinció de manos del alcalde. 

Tras recibir el galardón, Farach ha recordado a todos a quienes han formado parte de la Agrupación durante estos 40 años, “compañeros” que han compartido “luces y sombras” y que han configurado “algo más que un conjunto de personas que cantan”, puesto que la Coral ha sido también un “espacio de construcción cívica de Benidorm”. Así, ha afirmado que con su pertenencia a esta entidad “hombres y mujeres” se han acercado “a nuestras raíces” y han encontrado “una forma de ser y sentirse de Benidorm”, sabiendo que “ser de Benidorm tiene también sus exigencias”. 

La presidenta de la Agrupación Coral ha destacado “la esforzada promoción de la música y la cultura” y “del patrimonio cultural valenciano en particular” realizada por la entidad a lo largo de su trayectoria; y ha asegurado que una vez superados los peores momentos de la pandemia, que han afectado a la actividad de la Coral, “volvemos a ver con esperanza el futuro”, sensación que refuerza la Distinció recibida hoy, la cual ha agradecido y de la que ha destacado su “voluntad de ilusionar”. 

El alcalde, por su parte, ha trasladado que con la concesión de esta Distinció el Ayuntamiento y la ciudad quieren expresar su “consideración” hacia la “labor diaria, continua y esforzada” de la Agrupación Coral por “cuatro décadas llevando el nombre y la voz de Benidorm por todas partes”. Tras reconocer la aportación de todas las personas que han presidido la entidad, Toni Pérez se ha referido especialmente a la figura de Beatriz Farach, presidenta de la Coral en las últimas tres décadas, y que ha trabajado “persistentemente para garantizar la continuidad de la Agrupación y posibilitar, con la treintena de miembros que actualmente la integran, que la Coral siga siendo una realidad después de cuarenta años de vida”. 

Tras el acto de hoy, la Agrupación Coral se suma a la lista de entidades y personalidad reconocidas con esta Distinció por su aportación y contribución a la promoción cultural, de la que forman parte Jaume Ferrando, la Associació Cultural i Recreativa ‘La Barqueta’, ‘Pep El Carreró’, la Taula del Bon Profit, Pere Mª Orts i Bosch, la Colla de Xirimiters de la Marina, José Fuster ‘El Mestre’, la Unió Musical de Benidorm, Rafael Alemany, CEIP Ausiàs March, Miguel Ribes Sogorb, Societat Musical l’Illa, José Orozco ‘Pep Xorroll’, Vicente Llorca, Club de Pilota Benidorm, Jaume Antón, Pasqual Almiñana, Rafael Doménech, Francisco Amillo, Bárbara Alemany, Francesc Xavier Llorca, Eusebi Chiner y Francisco Pérez ‘Quico El Fotógrafo’.
