The new equipment will allow to act more quickly in cases of cardiac arrest on public roads

Ten Benidorm Local Police vehicles have since yesterday a DESA (Semi-Automatic Defibrillator) that will allow to act more quickly in the event of possible cases of cardiac arrest that occur on public roads.

For the use of these devices, the agents of the operational services have carried out a training course taking into account that speed is an essential factor to increase the survival rate and minimize sequelae in the event of cardiac arrest.

The Councilor for Citizen Security, Lorenzo Martínez, highlighted "the commitment of this government team and the Police Headquarters to provide all possible material means to the staff of the Local Police" and added that the training received will make it possible to "give an answer fast to our citizens and tourists ”.

Five patrol cars, an SUV and four motorcycles have been equipped with these devices in order to minimize response times and cover all kinds of situations that may occur even in rural areas.

"The use of the DESA devices demonstrates the commitment of the local Police to provide a better service and to improve every day in the performance of their work," Martinez said.

Cardiorespiratory arrest is a problem that occurs unexpectedly and relatively frequently. 80% of cases take place in homes or on public roads where it is only possible to act to help people immediately through the use of DESA by witnesses or first responders.
