Last night, Óscar Esplá Auditorium in Parque de l'Aigüera hosted a concert by Sociedad Musical l'Illa de Benidorm as part of the twenty-first Musical Exchange Campaign of the Federation of Musical Societies of the Valencian Community (FSMCV), which has the collaboration of the Department of Culture of Benidorm City Council

Among those attending the event, were the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez; the first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer and other members of the corporation; the provincial deputy, José Ramón González de Zárate, and hundreds of neighbours who were able to enjoy the evening in this open-air setting.

The event began with a minute of silence in tribute to the professor and clarinettist of the Musical Society, Antonio Saval, who recently died, and then the Musical Association of Barrio del Cristo of the municipalities of Aldaia and Quart de Poblet, in l'Horta Sud, under the direction of its owner, Francisco García Ruano, began the concert.

The Valencian band performed the piece of music 'Carmesina', by Manuel Morales; 'The Legend of the Amber Room', a symphonic poem by Michael Geiser and ended with 'A Catedral', by José Luis Peiró, inspired by the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.

After the Barrio del Cristo group, and before the performance of the Benidorm band, its director Felipe Juan Lanuza, remembered the figure of the missing musician. “We are clear,” he said, “friend and companion, that we will miss you in every concert and note we play.”

After Lanuza's words, Societat Musical l'Illa de Benidorm performed the piece of music 'Café, café', by Josep Cano, dedicated to the local musician Paco Santamaría; next, 'Portraits of Spain', fantasy for symphonic band by Teo Aparicio; and then, 'Danza colorista', by Rafael Mullor.
