The political consultant Xabier Domínguez presents in Benidorm the 'Retos de una España (casi) rota'

El consultor político Xabier Domínguez expone en Benidorm los ‘Retos de una España (casi) rota’

The well-known expert in political communication, Xabier Domínguez, offered yesterday afternoon in the Assembly Hall of the Benidorm City Council a conference on the 'Challenges of an (almost) broken Spain' in which he explained the current situation of our country and the atmosphere of tension and polarization. An interesting talk was organized by the Opinion Club and attended by Mayor Toni Pérez and several members of the local government team.

Domínguez, who has led electoral campaigns as an advisor and consultant for politicians of both sides in Spain and even for candidates in the United States, strongly advocated for “dialogue in the political class” and regretted that this dialogue “is broken.” and conditioned only by tactical aspects.”

In his opinion, “sincere dialogue does not exist,” which “has not happened for many years.” Domínguez pointed out that he was not referring only to issues such as the Catalan conflict but to other problems such as water. “It is impossible to sit two politicians down to talk about this issue,” he added.

The speaker opted to “recover dialogue between different people” and to reach “a pact like those of Moncloa to address issues such as education and public health, the environment or social rights.” He considers that “the dialogue has been complicated by extremes” about Podemos and Vox. “The time has come to say enough to these fights,” he added.

Xabier Domínguez also introduced some elements to the debate. He indicated that “there is no problem in dividing society, but there is a problem in polarizing it” and he said that the current polarization “only aims to win some votes at the expense of persecuting people so that they can continue living well.” Furthermore, he affirmed that the responsibility for this polarization lies with the political class. “For some more than others, but we are all co-responsible,” he added.
