Concluye el programa de Fomento de Empleo EMCORP del Ayuntamiento de Benidorm

A new grant has been requested that increases the amount by 40%

The Employment Promotion program ended on May 31. Benidorm City Council received a grant from the Social Initiative Program – EMCORP, through the Valencian Employment and Labor Training Service, for the hiring of unemployed people, at least 30 years old, for an amount of one hundred thousand euros.

Through this Social Initiative program a total of ten workers have carried out different tasks. Five second-rate officers have carried out actions to refurbish urban spaces to improve accessibility; this is the case of actions in the reduction of sidewalks in different streets of Els Tolls area.

Two workers in charge of maintenance work in municipal offices, social centers and sports center in Foietes have also completed their contract.

Professional graduates have also participated in this program: an architect has reviewed works license files, a technical architect has provided support to the Town Planning Department, and a technical engineer for Public Works has carried out a study on traffic management and mobility in El Rincón de L'Oix and adjacent streets.

EMCORP program is subsidized by LABORA, through funds from SEPE (Public State Employment Service), thus favoring the access of unemployed people in the municipality of Benidorm to the labor market. The amount of the subsidy amounted to 101,586, 94 euros.
The Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez, highlighted that “through the implementation of this Social Initiative program, the contracted workers have increased their work experience, at the same time that they have carried out works and services of general interest and public utility for the municipality of Benidorm ”.

Gómez has indicated that "Covid19 has not prevented these workers from continuing to carry out their functions, some in telework mode and the rest in person, adopting the appropriate safety and hygiene measures"

The councilor announced that her department has requested new subsidies to enhance this initiative. The most immediate involves "an increase of 40%, to 141,880 euros, with the idea of hiring more unemployed people in the municipality at a time when it is necessary to double our efforts to try to improve employment among citizens in Benidorm."

In this program, the contracts are full-time.
