It is the first of its kind in the Community and participants will do internships in the next productions that come to Benidorm

Producers will be able to find this new figure in the city, instead of bringing these professionals from their production centers

Twenty people have completed the in-person Eco-Assistant course promoted by the Benidorm Film Office, which has been developed over four days and with which participants have been trained in the task of facilitating and ensuring that filming is sustainable. Taught by Mrs Greenfilm, one of the best-prepared teams at a national level in this area, “it is the first course of this nature to be held in the Valencian Community”, according to the mayor, Toni Pérez.

“We are talking about a professional profile that has recently joined the audiovisual industry and is here to stay and that is going to have a very prominent role”, since sustainably producing fiction is beginning to be a requirement to receive public aid at a national and international level, and the main platforms and television channels are beginning to demand sustainable productions in their programming.

The course lasted 20 hours and was taught from last Monday until yesterday at the El Torrejó municipal centre. In addition to the theoretical training they have received over these four days, the accredited participants will have the opportunity to do internships in the productions that come to Benidorm in the coming months.

Toni Pérez indicated that “these people, under the umbrella of Benidorm Film Office, will be able to learn first-hand how a shoot is organised and developed and put into practice all the knowledge acquired, proposing and implementing measures that make filming sustainable, also ensuring that these are complied with.”

The mayor highlighted that “with this training, we have encouraged, on the one hand, that the participants expand their job opportunities; and on the other, we offer the production companies that shoot in Benidorm to find professionals in this field in our city instead of having to move them from their production centres, which are usually in Madrid or other large cities.

The Eco-Assistant course has had the collaboration of Another Way and the support of the Youth and Tourism Councillors, as well as the Ministry of Culture; and is part of the Benidorm Film Office's strategy to promote and facilitate sustainable filming in the city.

The mayor stressed that "we are once again pioneers in the launch of initiatives in favour of sustainability, demonstrating our firm and determined commitment to the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)."
