Benidorm City Council's Department of Culture is finalising the organisation of the third edition of the Theatre Showcase, which will take place at the Cultural Centre and will feature five performances by professional and amateur theatre companies, the latter made up of actors from both Benidorm and other towns in the Marina Baixa. The Councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, noted that the program "kicks off next Friday, May 23rd, and will do so in style, with 'Madness. An a cappella musical delirium.' It is the latest production by the Yllana and Primital Brothers company, and we are sure the audience will love it."

Pérez noted that this third Theatre Showcase will run until May 30th and that all performances will take place in the Cultural Centre's Auditorium starting at 8:00 p.m. He also noted that tickets for the public are still on sale at www.entradasatualcance.com, with a symbolic price of 4 euros for amateur performances; 15 euros for the performance starring the Yllana and Primitial Brothers company; while season tickets for all five sessions, which were initially on sale for 25 euros, have already sold out.

The councillor emphasised that this is a "great opportunity to enjoy theatre in Benidorm," in a municipal initiative that aims to "bring both professional and amateur theatre performances to all residents and tourists of our city." Therefore, he invited the public to "buy their tickets and participate, because we are sure they will have a great time in each format."

The 3rd Benidorm Theatre Festival will kick off on Friday, May 23, with "Madness. An a cappella musical delirium" by Yllana and Primitial Brothers. The next performance will be presented by the Municipal Theatre Workshop, directed by Manuel Troncoso, on Saturday, May 24th, with an adaptation of the Greek theatre classic "Medea."

The third performance will feature a contemporary play entitled "En la luna," written by Alfredo Sanzol, which won several Max Awards in 2013. It will take place on Wednesday, May 28th, by the Alpí Teatre company, directed by Ricardo Molina. On Thursday, May 29th, the Tossal Teatre group will perform the comedy "Melocotón en almíbar" by Miguel Mihura.

Finally, the Teatro 360 company will debut in Benidorm this year, closing the Theatre Festival on May 30th with a play written and directed by Arlene Iribarren, entitled "El laberinto del tiempo."

The Councillor for Culture encouraged theatre lovers "to enjoy the various offerings that make up this Festival, which seeks to offer viewers different styles and genres to appeal to all audiences."
