Benidorm City Council, through the Municipal Street Cleaning Service, is going to disinfect the arcades, portals and exterior areas of the homeowner communities that request it while the coronavirus health crisis persists. As explained by the mayor, Toni Pérez, this disinfection "will be carried out at no direct cost to the benefited community", and includes "the areas of common use that are still open to the use and transit of residents and, therefore, that they do not they are affected by the closing established with the alarm state ”. Consequently, the interior of buildings, green areas and leisure areas such as gardens, swimming pools, sports courts, children's games, etc. are excluded from these disinfection tasks.
Pérez recalled that “even before the state of alarm was decreed, from the City Council we had already been applying special cleaning and disinfection measures in public spaces; efforts that have been redoubled in recent weeks 24 hours a day, paying special attention to essential buildings and facilities open to the public and their environment such as hospital and health centers, security and essential services, as well as public access roads to supermarkets, pharmacies, ATMs, banks, gas stations, etc., reaching every neighborhood daily. ” These daily tasks also include the disinfection of urban furniture and public buildings.
However, the mayor added, "in view of the fact that the confinement situation decreed by the Government is prolonged and that, for this reason, the essential movements of citizens, in general, are limited to the proximity of their homes, we have considered necessary to extend protection more and that the disinfection works that are being carried out not only reach public roads, but also include private areas for community use as well ”. Some tasks that will also reach the exterior doors, the community telephones and litter bins or other furniture.
The mayor stressed that this service "will be carried out on request and free of charge for the communities of owners" who must request it through the email fccbenidorm@gmail.com or on the free telephone numbers of the Collective Help Network ( #RAC): 900 701 322 and 900 10 12 15. Once the service has been requested, access to each community must be provided by the custodian or a neighbor.
For the provision of this service, two brigades have been arranged in the morning and afternoon hours, between 08:00 and 20:00, although there is also the possibility of doing it in the evenings.
The mayor has indicated that "we do not doubt that these works are going to be complicated and suppose one more effort for everyone, but disinfection work will be of little use if it does not reach the entire city and all corners". He also added that "the situation we are experiencing is a continuous challenge for all of us in order to stop the spread and spread of the disease and with the conviction that together we will achieve it."
