An agreement will formalize the incorporation, which will lead to an improvement in the service in coverage and longer hours

Benidorm will integrate its mobile ecopark into the Consorci Mare network, which will allow it to access discounts

Benidorm integrará su ecoparque móvil en la red del Consorci Mare, lo que le permitirá acceder a bonificaciones

Benidorm City Council, through the Department of the Environment, will integrate its mobile eco-park into the network of the Consorci Mare waste collection system. This body implements the provisions of the Zonal Waste Plan 6, Management Area A1, which manages the waste of the 52 Marina Alta, Marina Baixa and El Campello municipalities.

This was agreed upon at a meeting held this morning at the City Council, headed by Mayor Toni Pérez, and the Councillors for the Environment and Street Cleaning; Mónica Gómez and Luis Navarro, with representatives of the Consorci, headed by its president, José Ramón González de Zárate. The adhesion will become effective after the signing of an agreement.

The mobile eco-park of Benidorm is a vehicle prepared for the deposit of certain waste such as used cooking oil, automotive oil, button and electric batteries, X-rays, small electronic devices, small toxic containers, etc.

Every day of the week and at different times, it is located at different points in the city to collect this waste, which is subsequently stored, treated and recycled or eliminated in environmentally safe conditions. It is a service whose purpose is to facilitate proper waste management for the citizens of Benidorm who do not have a vehicle or time to access the main eco-park.

According to José Ramón González de Zárate, “In 2025 we will give bonuses to the town councils that use the Consorci ecoparks, so the Benidorm one will also be given bonuses as soon as it joins the network.”

To publicize these advantages, the Consorci Mare will carry out advertising campaigns and make its environmental educators available to explain the benefits of recycling and selective collection through talks, workshops, visits to the transfer plant “or however the Town Council wants to use them to publicize all the advantages.” “We believe that it is a very important measure because it is the first time that the Consorci will reward the good work of the municipalities and at the same time it will allow us to continue advancing towards the current objectives of waste separation,” said González de Zárate.

The president of the Consorci Mare has revealed that Benidorm offers “very good data” regarding the use of the mobile eco-park that goes to the neighbourhoods. “Now we are working on an agreement so that it will be transferred to the Consorci Mare.” González de Zárate has explained that there are two main advantages. “On the one hand, the economic savings since the price per ton is more favourable for the Consorci and, on the other, because through an application we will be able to give the usage data to the town councils and based on that data, reward them with a financial contribution.”

The Consorci Mare provides service five hours a week in Benidorm, which will now be twelve hours. “With the incorporation of the mobile eco-park in Benidorm into the Consorci, we will reach all the neighbourhoods and areas of the city much better and with a longer opening timetable” stressed González de Zárate.

This morning's meeting also addressed the situation of the permanent eco-park located in Terra Mítica area, which is also about to join the Consorci Mare “so the service will also be improved”.
