Benidorm tenders the work to complete the urbanization of La Garita street

The Local Government Board (JGL) of Benidorm City Council has approved the tender for the work to complete the urbanization of La Garita street, between Antonio Ramos Carratalá and Los Almendros, as reported by the councillor of Works, José Ramón González de Zárate. In addition, to unify the aesthetics of La Garita and practically complete the renovation of streets in the Old Town, this project, valued at 173,000 euros, will allow improving the sidewalk of Antonio Ramos Carratalá street.

De Zárate explained that "with this project we give aesthetic continuity to La Garita street, since we are going to use the same materials that we already use in the renewed section: paving stone in the part of the roadway and granite tile for the pedestrian zone."

The person in charge of Works has detailed that “as in all the actions on public roads that we have carried out in the city in the last four and a half years, the redevelopment of this section of La Garita street will mean the renovation of all the urban scene, but also of the water network that runs through the subsoil ”.

Specifically, the entire wastewater network will be renewed "as the current one is very deteriorated after more than 30 years in service"; at the same time that the rainwater network will be improved and the drinking water infrastructure will be expanded "to avoid constant breakdowns and even leaks that occur in this section."

In adition, “as it is usual in all the works that we bid in the City Council, we have included improvements to the project that are going to be assumed by the company awarded the works, and in this case they are going to be used to renovate the sidewalk on Antonio Street Ramos Carratalá, which is too narrow and is deteriorated ”.

When planning this action, which has an execution period of two months, it has been taken into account not only the improvement of pedestrian safety but also facilitating "the movement and maneuverability of vehicles that usually carry out loading and unloading tasks in the area, as is the case of those that supply the hypermarket located on the ground floor of the Municipal Market ”.

Finally, the mayor has recalled that although the City Council is in charge of tendering the work, it will be assumed by the company that manages that hypermarket based on the agreement signed between both parties.
