Benidorm requests a grant of 258,264 euros to hire unemployed people over 30 years of age for 12 months in the EXPLUS program

Benidorm will request the Valencian Employment and Training Service (LABORA) a grant of 258,264 euros for the hiring of unemployed people of at least 30 years of age. This was approved this morning by the Local Government Board after the call for the EXPLUS 2023 Program.

As explained by the Councilor for Employment and Local Promotion, Mónica Gómez, one of the objectives of this aid is "to contribute to job creation." Through the EXPLUS program, unemployed people "improve their level of employability, acquiring professional experience through their labor insertion in the labor market, at the same time that they carry out works and services of general and social interest."

The EXPLUS program proposes providing local entities with additional human resources that allow them to carry out actions within the scope of their competencies and that is why the City Council has adhered to this call "to increase the labor insertion of unemployed people in the municipality".

The hiring of these people will be carried out for a year and the City Council agrees to contribute the economic part that corresponds to it with the subsidy that is finally granted. The number of contracts made will depend on whether LABORA grants the full amount requested. In the event of obtaining fewer funds than those requested, the initial forecast of contracts must be adjusted to the subsidy finally received.

In 2022, LABORA's contribution to the EXPLUS program in Benidorm was 227,880 euros, which, together with the municipal contribution, served to hire 15 people who provided their services as information assistants and building maintainers.

The mayor recalled that people interested in the selection process "must be registered in the Espai Labora de Benidorm as unemployed".

Gómez has outlined that from the City Council, "we continue to deploy active employment policies because we are convinced that the promotion of employment is the best tool to help families in Benidorm" and has specified that "that is why we reissue this type of program and allocate the municipal resources necessary for it.
