Benidorm City Council invests €145,000 for the installation of cameras with artificial intelligence
Benidorm reinforces its tourism sustainability with a new intelligent capacity control system on beaches
This contract is one of the 19 actions contemplated in the Benidorm Tourism Sustainability Plan
Benidorm is consolidated as a smart tourist destination with the installation of a network of cameras with an artificial intelligence system for access and capacity control. The action, contemplated in the Tourism Sustainability Plan of Benidorm, will install smart cameras on the beaches of Poniente and Mal Pas to improve mobility in these areas of great tourist influx.
"As the first certified tourist destination in the world, Benidorm is firmly committed to continuing to consolidate itself as an international model of smart, sustainable and safe tourism," explained Mayor Toni Pérez. “We will install 19 cameras with artificial intelligence at the Poniente beach entrances and one at Mal Pas beach to be able to control the capacity and thus carry out precise management that will help us continue to improve mobility in these areas of great tourist influx. ”
The new network of smart cameras will allow the capacity to be controlled in some of the areas with high tourist influx in Benidorm through people counting software. This project also includes the implementation of three additional Wi-Fi points that will allow visitors and neighbours to connect to the Internet.
The presentation of offers for this tender for this action has ended this week. Once the award is over, the estimated term for the execution of this smart transformation project is six months.
This action follows the line of sustainability that is already a hallmark of Benidorm's governance. "This action, like the 19 that we propose in the Tourism Sustainability Plan, continues our commitment to making Benidorm more accessible and sustainable through intelligent planning," says the mayor of Benidorm Toni Pérez. The installation of this image and data analysis systems in tourist areas is part of the third act of the Benidorm DTI + Insurance Plan that seeks the competitive transformation of the tourism sector in Benidorm.
Benidorm DTI + Seguro Plan is a joint strategy between the Government of Spain, the Generalitat Valenciana and the Benidorm City Council to continue advancing safe, sustainable and intelligent governance, promoting the tourism sector in Benidorm. With a total investment of more than €2,950,000, the Plan includes 19 actions grouped into four strategic axes: actions in infrastructure and tourist facilities to improve accessibility and sustainability, actions to advance management, smart planning and the diversification of tourism products, the competitive transformation of the city and measures to ensure hygienic-sanitary safety.
