Benidorm recovers the participatory budget assembly tomorrow to give visibility to neighborhood proposals

02 November 2022
Presupuestos Participativos.

The deadline to vote online opens on Friday until November 28

The Department of Citizenship Participation of Benidorm City Council recovers the participatory budget assembly tomorrow, Thursday after two years due to the pandemic, an appointment that will take place at 6:00 p.m. in La Casa del Fester. The objective is to give visibility to the neighborhood proposals so that they are included in the budgets for the next financial year once they are voted on and assessed by the municipal technicians.

In the assembly, the proposals that the neighbors have sent will be announced, either in person or electronically thanks to the new tool that has been put into operation this year. Ana Pellicer, Councilor for Citizen Participation, has encouraged "all residents who wish to attend the assembly so that they know the proposals and can vote on them in person." In this sense, she has also invited the neighbors who have formulated proposals in any of the possible ways “to have the opportunity to expose and defend their own proposal. We understand that it is a way of giving voice to citizens who have been more involved”.

Pellicer has specified that until a few hours before the deadline for submissions, 130 proposals had been received, a figure that far exceeds those registered in previous years "and that was largely due to the implementation of the digital platform so that proposals could be submitted online, so we can only make a very positive assessment of it because it has been widely accepted”. The councilor has also been convinced that "this good start of participatory budgeting augurs new successes in the future."

In tomorrow's assembly, once all the proposals that have arrived have been exposed, the attendees will vote on them. However, the next day, Friday, November 4, the deadline to vote electronically through the digital tool for this purpose will open. This period will be extended until next November 28.

To assess and vote for the different proposals online, residents who wish to do so must go to the web address: benidorm.governalia.es and from there register with a username and password. The next step will be to verify your DNI so that the system checks that it is included in the population register.

The Councilor for Citizen Participation, Ana Pellicer, stressed that this is "a magnificent opportunity for our citizens to choose the city model they want" thanks to the fact that participatory budgets "are a very powerful tool for this" and that they take Running since 2016.

With the new tool and as established in the Self-Regulation of Participatory Budgets, registered residents over 18 years of age have until 11:59 p.m. tonight to present their proposals. They can do so on the municipal website (www.sede.benidorm.org), the email advicevecinal@benidorm.org, in person at the General Registry of the City Council, and, finally, the digital tool launched this year (benidorm.governalia.es).

“We want to make participation as easy as possible and for them to really transmit to us what each neighborhood needs” Pellicer reiterated. When the voting period ends on November 28, the Neighborhood Council will transfer the results to the City Council, and the municipal technicians will analyze the proposals and report on their viability in the order in which they have been voted.
