“Benidorm presents ‘Realism in Painting’, an exhibition by Rafael Martín”
The Espai d'Art Gallery at Benidorm City Hall is hosting the exhibition "Realism in Painting" by artist Rafael Martín Rodríguez, which opened today and will remain open to the public until July 24.
This is Rafael's first exhibition in Benidorm, although he has a long and distinguished artistic career. Originally from France, the painter became interested in art during his school years and, since then, has exhibited his work in various locations, both within and outside of Spain.
The exhibition brings together a selection of still lifes, landscapes, and compositions created using different techniques, all under the common denominator of realism, a movement with which the artist fully identifies. His painting reflects the influence of great masters such as Velázquez, Joaquín Sorolla, and El Greco, although he has developed his own unique style. The artist works primarily in oil on panel, using traditional pigments and thus reviving techniques from classical painting.
The artist sums up his vocation with the phrase, "I dedicate myself to painting, painting, and painting," a passion reflected in this exhibition. He is also a craftsman, a facet he combines with his artistic creation. Among his works, the handcrafted creation of delicate pieces inspired by the Moorish art of Toledo stands out—a completely artisanal process he develops alongside his painting.
Rafael Martín invites residents and visitors to explore the exhibition and contemplate the light and details of his paintings. The Councillor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, encourages the public to visit this exhibition and highlights the summer cultural program, an open space for artists and groups wishing to showcase their work.
