Benidorm implements ‘Benibono’ of Early Childhood Education with grants of up to 120 euros per month

Benidorm implanta el ‘Benibono’ de Educación Infantil con ayudas de hasta 120 euros al mes

The Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, has announced today the implementation in Benidorm of ‘Benibono’, a check for minors born between 2017 and 2019 that includes grants of up to 120 euros per month. The initiative is “the fulfillment” of one of the proposals committed by the popular party in the electoral program that appealed to the local government in the last municipal elections.

Moreno recalled that Benidorm has "a municipal offer of first cycle of Early Childhood Education much more than the national average" and has confirmed that "95% of children under 0 to 3 years who applied for a place, have achieved it." However, 5% of children remain on the waiting lists. These grants are aimed at the families of Benidormenses who are in this situation.

In this way, families with children who have not obtained a place in municipal nursery schools (Fontanelles, Les Caletes and El Tossalet), the Early Childhood Care Service, or in one of the classrooms of public schools in the city and are on the waiting list, they can access the 'Benibono' with which they will cover access to any of the authorized children's centers of a private nature.

The Education proposal will cover the first half of 2020. To access 'Benibono', the family unit must be registered in the city for a minimum year, be part of the waiting list, that there are no vacancies in municipal services, not have tax debts and that the minor has been admitted to any of the authorized private schools or nursery schools.

The amount of the subsidy "will be fixed by the family income," says Moreno and will be 60 or 120 euros per month, with a maximum of 1,100 euros per year. The councillor has stressed that “the children's 'Benibono' is compatible with any other type of benefit that families receive for this same purpose” and has encouraged all families who are in this situation to request aid and, once are published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP), they will have ten days to submit the application to the Department of Education. To facilitate access, the bases and the necessary documentation that will have to be submitted will be published all on the municipal website.
