The new ‘Espai coworking’ will be located on Gerona Street
Employment will triple the area dedicated to ‘coworking’ and create a business incubator
Benidorm will triple the area dedicated to the co-worker in the city and create a new business incubator in response to business demand and the good results obtained after the launch of the ‘Espai coworking Benidorm’, on Juan Fuster Zaragoza street last summer.
The measure has been announced today by the Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez, who recalled that currently the service offers “nine workspaces for entrepreneurs and two more to Memba business associations [For the Development of Women Entrepreneurs] and Jovempa [Young Entrepreneurs] ”. The space has meeting rooms, ‘office’ and common spaces and “is at full capacity”.
The co-worker is a form of collaborative work that allows independent professionals, small businesses and entrepreneurs to share the same physical or virtual space in which to develop their business projects independently and, at the same time, encourages common initiatives.
Mónica Gómez believes that it is necessary to “anticipate the needs of the sector” and for this, she will propose in the next municipal plenary session the creation “of a new municipal space” in which “young entrepreneurs who decide to develop their projects in the city” can “ promote and deploy its initiatives, thus promoting self-employment, entrepreneurship, job creation and the business fabric ”. The new ‘Espai coworking’ will be located in the Anna Building, on Gerona Street.
With the extension of the area dedicated to the co-worker, “one of the objectives of the Agency for Employment and Local Promotion (AEDL)” is met, says Gómez because they offer “information, advice, or training to entrepreneurs in order to improve the business fabric of our municipality ”. In addition, the creation of the business incubator responds to a request "often requested" from local economic sectors
The councillor of Employment and Local Promotion recalled that there are more and more innovative companies that "choose Benidorm, tourism management model, to develop their projects in the fields of innovation, technology or sustainability." For this reason, she has qualified, it is “highly interesting” to welcome “and support innovative projects that add value to the city by attracting talent and investment”.
