Benidorm hires and trains 20 unemployed people for a year in a new Employment Workshop

The City Council has hired 20 unemployed people for 12 months, whom it is also training in a professional specialty through the 'Benidorm XI' Employment Workshop. The mayor, Toni Pérez, and the councilor for Employment and Local Promotion, Mónica Gómez, went today to 'Pepita Puchades' employment center to find out what the impressions and experience of the students have been during the first month of operation of the workshop.

Gómez explained that this edition "is being developed in two specialties: 'Auxiliary operations in the organization of activities and operation of sports facilities' and in 'Auxiliary activities in nurseries, gardens and garden centers'". In both cases, "these are level 1 specialties, so students who pass this level and are interested can continue their training with the next level."

Each of the specialties has 10 students who throughout the year "will combine theoretical training with practice, so that during the 12 months that the workshop lasts they will be able to deploy on the ground the knowledge they acquire in the classroom" . Thus, the students have already begun to carry out their first gardening activities in green spaces in Benidorm and to provide services in municipal sports facilities.

In total, throughout the year the student body has 1,920 hours of training, alternating with work or professional practice, which is aimed at learning, qualification, and acquisition of professional experience.

The Councilor for Employment and Local Promotion highlighted that "with this there are now eleven Employment Workshops that the City Council has promoted to improve the employability possibilities of the participating people, being aware that the labor market is increasingly demanding and demands profiles that accredit regulated training or training such as those that the students of the 'Benidorm XI' can obtain at the end of the program”.

For the 'Benidorm XI' Employment Workshop, Benidorm City Council has obtained a LABORA subsidy of 502,708.80 euros, an amount that is supplemented with municipal resources.
