Benidorm ends 'Pedro Zaragoza Orts Year' with fireworks in Elche Park
Yesterday fireworks in Elche Park put an end to 'Pedro Zaragoza Orts Year' that the City Council has been commemorating for the last 365 days on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the former Benidorm mayor who promoted the current Benidorm.
At 6:30 p.m., Pedro Zaragoza's granddaughter, Ana Baschwitz, lit the fuse together with the mayor of the city in an act attended by representatives of the municipal corporation, as well as the president of the ACR La Barqueta Francisco Llorens, among other attendees, and which took place a few meters from the fountain where the stone that commemorates the bringing of water to Benidorm is located with the inscription 'You live with illusion' that the honoree placed there.
Thus ends a year that has had numerous activities to commemorate the figure of Pedro Zaragoza. Institutional plenary sessions, round tables, conferences, talks, and exhibitions have served to remind him and give him value and also to learn about some lesser-known aspects of his life.
