Benidorm commemorates International Women's Day
The programming organized by the Department of Equality reaches its equator
Benidorm celebrates International Women's Day today. Starting this morning, on the occasion of this event, a commemorative banner has been flying on the balcony of the City Hall, which tonight will be lit up in purple for 8-M, as will two other emblematic points of the city: the Castell and the Tossal de La Cala.
The mayor, Toni Pérez; and the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, have highlighted "the importance of celebrating this International Women's Day and, above all, promoting policies aimed at achieving and consolidating gender equality every day from the municipal level". Both have stressed that "although significant progress has been made in recent years, there is still a long way to go and it is the task of all of us to get involved in order to achieve full equality".
Also this morning, the mayor of Equality has accompanied the Housewives in the activities scheduled for International Women's Day, in which the members of the association have exposed some of the works they carry out in the workshop of painting that Pepe Albero has taught for years. In this way, the many people who have passed through the confluence of Gambo and Martínez Alejos streets throughout the morning have been able to learn more about the pictorial works signed by the Housewives of Benidorm.
With this activity, the programming for International Women's Day organized by the Department of Equality reaches its halfway point. A program that will last until March 15 and which began last Friday with the bibliographical selection of 'Great Poetesses' in the Central Library and with the 'XXI Trobada de Dones de la Marina Baixa', which on this occasion enjoyed in the neighbouring town of l'Alfàs del Pi.
After the inauguration of the exhibition 'Mujeres' on Saturday at the Espais d'Art Urbà in Benidorm, the first of the three Tribute Concerts to the female composer by the 'José Pérez Barceló' Professional Music Conservatory took place yesterday, Monday.
