Secondary students from IES Mediterrània participate in this initiative, which this year moves to Foietes Park

Benidorm commemorates the Day of Valencian Literature with the reading of poems by different authors

17 November 2023
Dia de les LLetres Valencianes

Once again, Benidorm commemorates the Valencian Literature Day, which is celebrated this Monday, November 20. On the occasion of this anniversary, the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage has organized a reading of  "texts in the Valencian language”, according to the councillor of the department, Ana Pellicer, who has announced that “on this occasion is dedicated to poetry.”

Specifically, in the voices of the participants in this reading, "the verses of such renowned authors in the Valencian language like Ausias March, Àngels Gregori or Marc Granell will resonate."

As in previous years, the Department has joined the educational community in this celebration, so that secondary school students from IES Mediterránea will participate in the public reading as will members of the Municipal Corporation.

As a novelty, this year the activity moves to Foietes Park, in front of the mural recovered from the old Selomar Hotel; a mural that was restored by the City Council and that has been visible for several weeks on one of the walls of this large green area.

After the reading, which will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the IES Mediterrànea students will receive a talk by Aitor Muñoz about the use of Valencian on social networks to “discover how our Valencian language is a very rich and useful in this new form of communication.”

Pellicer has invited citizens to “join this public reading, which contributes to giving visibility to the literary creation that has been made, continues to be made, and will be made in the Valencian language.”
