Toni Pérez defends the alliance of the City Council, AICO and Chao endorsed by the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Benidorm, a city committed to sustainable mobility

10 September 2022
II Foro Benimov 2022.
II Foro Benimov 2022.

Benimov Experience Fair will be open until Sunday night on Mediterráneo Avenue

The second edition of Benimov 2022 Forum came to an end yesterday afternoon after an intense day of debate that took place in the Assembly Hall of Benidorm City Council. The city once again became a benchmark for sustainable mobility thanks to this initiative, organized by the Department of Mobility, the Independent Traders Association (AICO) and the consulting firm Chao.

The event was attended by the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, the councilor for Mobility and provincial deputy, José Ramón González de Zárate, and other members of the corporation. Also present were, among others, the president of AICO, Raúl Parra, and the representative of CHao Antonio Pérez Collar.

The activities of the forum started with a thematic table that addressed the regulation of electric vehicle charging networks and continued with the debate 'Energy, smart cities, innovation and megatrends' in which José Luis Cordeiro (The Millennium Project), Gerardo Fernández (PwC Network), Fernando Temprano (Talantia Partner) and Gilein Steensma (One Point Five), moderated by Antonio Pérez Collar de Chao.

Next, the Spanish-Venezuelan engineer, futurist and transhumanist, José Luis Cordeiro, gave the conference 'Energularity: the energetic singularity' in which the speaker pointed out that we are in a "technological singularity" in which artificial intelligence will reach levels of human intelligence, at a time of energetic change.

Cordeiro abounded in the exponential growth of energy consumption. He advanced that renewable energies will be more important than fossil ones in 2030; that, in ten years, all cars will be electric and marked the point of confluence between human beings and artificial intelligence by 2045.

After the conference by the director of The Millennium Project, Toni Pérez, he took the floor to close the forum, highlighting "the alliance" of the City Council with AICO and Chao for the realization of events such as Benimov, recalling the commitment of the Municipal Corporation with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations, and, in this case, 17: 'Partnerships for the goals.

The mayor, quoting John Allen Paulos, spoke of "The Numerical Man", the author's second book translated into Spanish, in which he demonstrated the difficulty of society in understanding the changes that occur in it. Changes such as those advanced by Cordeiro, will be "not fast, dizzying" in the coming years. In this sense, Toni Pérez highlighted the work carried out in Benidorm since 2015 with its commitment "to the Smart Tourist Destination" (DTI) and sustainability in "its social and economic aspects".

Toni Pérez delved into the "commitment to sustainable mobility" of the city, reflected in Benimov and endorsed by "efficient measures in the use of resources" such as water or energy. The mayor emphasized Benidorm's "ethical" and "responsible" stance towards artificial intelligence as a "disruptive tool" that should contribute to "building a better world".

After the words of the mayor, the II Benimov Forum 2022 was closed and, then, Pérez together with the members of the Corporation present and participating, took a tour of  'Benimov Experience Fair', located on Avenida del Mediterráneo, in the that 12 exhibitors show the public sustainable vehicles that they can test and drive. The fair can be visited until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11.
