The City Council requires concessionaires to purchase vehicles that do not contaminate
Benidorm bets on green vehicles during the Mobility Week
Mobility Week has begun in Benidorm with an exhibition of electric cars in Foietes Park. The vehicles are part of the fleets of municipal services and concessionary companies. So far there are the Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, and the Environment concillor, Mónica Gómez.
"We are complying with what the European Union, the Government of the Nation and the Generalitat Valenciana," said González de Zárate, which is to dedicate each day of the Mobility Week to one of the subjects which during these seven days will be protagonists in Benidorm. "Today is the day of green cars."
In total there have been eight vehicles exposed in Foietes, all plug-in or 100% electric hybrids. The City Council has five hybrid cars, four plug-in hybrids and an electric 100%; Hidraqua, five electric, Aquambiente, three; Actua, of four; OTA Benidorm Crane, two; and finally, OHL Ingesan, of two.
González de Zárate is convinced that “in the coming years” Benidorm will have a much larger ecological mobile park. "One of the clauses that are put in the specifications is that electric vehicles are used," he recalled, although in some cases it may not be 100% -he points out- due to the absence of adapted vehicles "as is still the case with trucks of the trash". However, the fleet of ecological vehicles "will be much larger in the coming years in Benidorm."
Tomorrow Tuesday, public transport will be the protagonist of the Mobility Week. There will be free bus tickets on lines 2 and 3 as they pass along Orts Llorca Avenue.
