The work, with an investment of 428,551 euros, has an execution period of four months

Benidorm begins the renovation works of drinking water and sewage on Pérez Martorell street

22 April 2024
Benidorm inicia las obras de renovación de agua potable y alcantarillado en la calle Pérez Martorell

Next Wednesday, April 24, Benidorm City Council will begin renovating the drinking water and sewage infrastructure on Metge Pérez Martorell Street, in the section between Martínez Alejos and Pintor Lozano. The expected duration of this action is about four months, as specified by the Councilor for the Water Cycle, José Ramón González de Zárate.

The budget for the works is 428,551.57 euros and will be financed by the Integrated Water Cycle concessionaire company, Hidraqua, from the Renewal Funds of the Municipal Drinking Water and Sewage Service.

The renovation will cover the replacement of 200 meters of the drinking water network by installing a ductile iron pipe with a nominal diameter of 250 millimetres. Another 110 meters of the wastewater network will be renewed with a PVC pipe of 315 and 400 millimetres in diameter. 85 meters will be rehabilitated with a hose system composed of fibreglass, as well as their corresponding home connections.

These works will be completed with the installation of pipelines for municipal services "and the urban scene of the area will be improved by the execution of a single platform at the same level, with granite sidewalks and printed asphalt road, in addition to placing new urban furniture", indicated González de Zárate.

The councillor highlighted that this is a "necessary" intervention "that is already very obsolete and that needs to be renewed and replaced." The action will also improve public decoration and accessibility, so in the opinion of the councillor "With works like this we are building the Benidorm of the future."

On the other hand, during the development of the works, the traffic of authorized vehicles and loading and unloading will be diverted from Plaza de la Hispanidad towards Alcoy Avenue and Virgen del Sufragio Avenue, leaving access from Doctor Pérez Llorca Street null and void, except for the residents' fords. That is, access to the old town must be via Valencia Street in the direction of Alcoy Avenue and from there, along this avenue, to Torrejó Square, where you can take Metge Cosme Bayona Street.
