The system will raise alarms in the event of an alteration in water or electricity consumption patterns or the interruption of supplies so that timely preventive or assistance measures are adopted

About thirty users participate in the telecare pilot project for vulnerable people based on artificial intelligence

Una treintena de usuarios participan del piloto de teleasistencia para personas vulnerables basado en la inteligencia artificial

The collection of consumption data from supply companies is being finalized
Hidraqua, Veolia, IOTSENS, Moments & Events are also part of the project led by the City Council

About thirty users have already joined the innovative non-invasive telecare pilot project for the care of elderly and vulnerable people based on artificial intelligence. A project promoted by the Benidorm City Council and that is about to complete a new phase, as advanced today by the councillors of Social Welfare and Innovation, Ángela Zaragozí and Jaime Jesús Pérez.

Both have recalled that this project will allow better assistance to the elderly, dependent, vulnerable or at risk of exclusion, by establishing “advanced tailored tutoring services” based on any change in behaviour or incident detected in water and electricity consumption.

This is a worldwide pilot project in which, in addition to the City Council and the commercial companies IOTSEN and Moments & Events, they are responsible for this technological solution. The Valencian Innovation Agency (AVI) Hidraqua and Veolia also participate.

The Councilor for Innovation explained that “at this time, the collection of data on electricity and water consumption of the people incorporated into the project, as well as other health data, is continuing to be completed, to be able, on the one hand, to establish patterns of habitual behaviour in the home, and on the other hand, being able to personalize the actions in the management of the alarms.

As Vicente Porcar explained from Moments&Events, “to determine the criticality of the alarms, people's clinical information can be used, as well as home health assistance and monitoring devices that users want to share.”

For all this, the project was provided with an infrastructure for obtaining, storing, processing and integrating the data, and alarms and a first care action protocol has been prepared for each of them.

The Councillor of Innovation has announced that "at the end of June the pilot to redesign the telecare service is scheduled to start", based on an intelligent solution that will use predictive and analytical models in development. "By monitoring the data, the alarms that the system will launch to Social Welfare, users and family members will begin to be issued and traced in the event of a failure, alteration or interruption in a supply (water or electricity), which may suggest a health problem or may affect the operation of a medical device or any other type of monitored device, such as a respirator or dialysis equipment.”

Furthermore, the system under development will react to significant excesses in electricity and water consumption from which potential material damage to users or neighbours can be inferred.

Porcar has indicated that "in addition to the thirty people who have joined the project, the data of 73 homes of anonymized users to whom the City Council provides some type of service are also being monitored." In both cases, he highlighted, “the Data Protection Law is being scrupulously observed,” data that is “anonymized to protect people's identity.”

As the mayor, Toni Pérez, already announced with this unique project “we put technology at the service of people”, creating a tool that “will improve the quality of life of users, prevention and assistance” that is lent to them. “We speak, therefore, of social sustainability; "to give social use to digitalization to serve the most vulnerable people" quickly and effectively.
