Environment completes the allocation of plots and gives a talk on organic farming to the people who will cultivate the fifty plots in Camí de la Parva

The urban gardens of l'Horta, in full

07 September 2022
Asignación de los Huertos Urbanos.

The urban gardens of Camí de la Parva, in the area of l'Horta, are all occupied and will soon be at full capacity, after the Department of the Environment has awarded the few plots that were left free last July. The Councilor for the Environment, Mónica Gómez, has indicated that "at first 40 requests were received from individuals and the neighbourhood association in the area to obtain one of these urban gardens, for which a dozen plots were left free". Since then "new requests have been received, so the free plots have been awarded, which will begin to be cultivated as of this week, just as those that were delivered in July are already being cultivated."

Precisely all the people awarded the fifty urban orchards located on the Camí de la Parva have today attended an informative talk on organic farming in the Assembly Hall of Benidorm City Council.

The mayor of the Environment has welcomed the attendees, most of whom are over 65 years of age, unemployed, or representatives of associations who, since July, have enjoyed one of the plots in the area.

Gómez has congratulated the most applied, about to collect the first fruits of the earth for the care applied in the more than evident development of the plants cultivated these two months.

Next, the municipal agricultural engineer, Juan Miguel Calvo, gave a talk on the basic principles of organic farming applied in urban gardens, placing special emphasis on traditional crops in the area and the rejection of synthetic phytosanitary products. Next, the rural guard, Juanjo Mascarell, advised them on the resolution of possible administrative problems that could affect them during the duration of the concession.
