The prestigious photographer, winner of the Lucie Awards 2022, considered the Oscar of photography, is supervising the editing of 'Orografía del camino' these days

Outumuro's photography 'takes over' the Boca del Calvari Museum

La fotografía analógica de Outumuro ‘toma’ el Museu Boca del Calvari

The analog photography of the prestigious and renowned photographer Manuel Outumuro stars in the new exhibition at Boca del Calvari Museum, 'Orography of the road'.

An exhibition that opens its doors this Friday, the 24th, and arrives in Benidorm thanks to the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage and curated by Imma Cortés, from the Photographic Social Vision Foundation.

The councilor of the department, Ana Pellicer, explained that 'Orografía del Camino' “is composed of contact sheets, enlarged to a size of 150x100 centimeters, through which the viewer will discover or rediscover what the editing process was like in analog photography, a modality that is beginning to awaken new passions and attention after decades relegated by the absolute predominance of digital photography.”

As noted in the presentation of the exhibition, these contact sheets “are an essential tool to specify, with greater rigor, the choice of what was shot.” They are, therefore, the necessary route to find the definitive snapshot, the one that the photographer finally edits and selects. With the display of these contact sheets, “people who visit the exhibition will be able to check if the photograph that the author finally opted for within that sequence is the same one that they would have opted for.”

Pellicer has delved into the fact that “beyond the process of creating and choosing analog photography itself, in this exhibition, the viewer will find sequences of artistic images of great quality and beauty, through which they can be perfectly understood. “why Outumuro is considered a great reference.”

The person in charge of Historical and Cultural Heritage recalled “the prolific and fruitful career of Outumuro, whose archive of more than 10,000 negatives constitutes the best testimony of the evolution of fashion in recent decades and of the best-known faces of Spanish cinema.”

A career, he added, that “is full of national and international recognition, including the 2022 Lucie Prize, considered the Oscar of photography,” and in which collaborations with publications linked to the world of photography have been constant. fashion and cinema.

Starting today, Outumuro is supervising the assembly of the exhibition, which can be visited until April 2. Pellicer has invited citizens "to join us this Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the opening of the exhibition since it is a unique opportunity to tour the exhibition with the artist."
