'Música en femenino' concert completely fills the Assembly Hall to pay tribute to women composers and art creators
The Assembly Hall of the Benidorm City Hall was filled last night to attend a new commemorative activity for International Women's Day, which on this occasion was jointly programmed by the Departments of Equality and Culture. It was the concert 'Music for women', whose objective was to pay tribute not only to creative women, and composers, from different eras and musical styles but to women in general as creators of art and life.
In addition to the large audience that gathered, the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, the Councilor for Culture, Jaime Jesús Pérez, and several members of the municipal corporation attended.
The concert was led by María José Clemente Bover (flute), Carla Gómez Pertusa (piano) and Julia Roca Zamora (violoncello). The three performed works by authors such as Anna Bon di Venezia, Louise Farrenc, Fanny Mendelsohn-Hensel, Clara Schumann, Elfrida Andrée, and Amy Beach.
The 8M activities continue today, Saturday, with a self-defense workshop at the Palau d'Esports l'Illa from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The events will conclude on March 20 with the Red Cross exhibition 'Women of the world', in which the Department of Equality collaborates. It will be in Espai d'Art of the Town Hall and can be visited until March 31.
