Miguel Bou, with a new record, and Alexandra Bollella, win the 23rd L'Illa Swimming Crossing

Vila Swim Club swimmer Miguel Bou triumphed in the 23rd edition of the L'Illa de Benidorm Swimming Crossing, his fourth consecutive victory in this event. Bou also triumphed with great authority, lowering the race record by more than two minutes, stopping the clock at 39:29. In the women's category, the winner was Alexandra Bollella, from the Aquatic Alicante club, who finished with a time of 46:53. The trophy for the club with the most participants and swimmers at the finish line went to Aguaviva Benidorm, with around twenty participants.
The Councillor for Sports, Javier Jordá, along with other members of the municipal council, welcomed the winners and the rest of the participants at Mal Pas beach, which was filled with spectators from early in the morning to watch the event, which took place in optimal conditions for the swimmers.
The participants boarded the "swallow" boat just after 7:30 a.m., which took them to the island, where the race began just after 8:30 a.m. Equipped with an orange identification cap, the control chip, and the mandatory location buoy, the swimmers gave their all to cover the approximately 2 nautical miles—equivalent to approximately 3.6 kilometres—that separate the islet from the beach.
The first to reach the finish line on Mal Pas beach was young Miguel Bou Bernabeu, from the Vila Swim swimming club. Second in the senior category was César Parra, from the Master Naturalswim club in Petrer, with a time of 43:24, and the podium was completed by Vicente Solbes, from the Gladiators Benidorm club, with a time of 45:43. In the women's category, as mentioned above, Alexandra Bollella finished first, followed by last year's winner, Ángela Cerdán, with a time of 48:19, and Iris Gracia, from the Master Morvedre club, who stopped the clock at 50:22.
In the local classifications, Vicente Solbes finished first in the men's category, with a time of 45:43, followed by Jordi Guirado (47:07) and Eduardo Burguero (47:24); In the local women's category, Melanie Marín Rueda finished first (51'17"), ahead of Ángeles López Ortega (53'37") and Nerea Martínez (54'21").
Councillor Javier Jordá was in charge of presenting the trophies to the top three finishers in each category, along with the queens of the 2025 Festes Majors Patronals, Aitana Pérez Gutiérrez and Paula Pascual Sánchez, and their bridesmaids.
The councillor also presented recognition to the collaborating organisations and entities, such as the Red Cross, the Local Police Beach Section, the Benidorm Nautical Club, RA Benidorm, Cerbuques SL, Deportes y Aventuras Stones SL, Carlos Serrano Aquatic Activities SL, Coca-Cola European Partners, Caixa Callosa, and the Horizontes Scout Group, in gratitude for their support of the event. He also publicly expressed his gratitude to the Other individuals and enthusiasts who participated, including thirty sea kayaks and a dozen motorboats that accompanied the swimmers throughout the race.
