Paperinell Club, with a parody about the implementation of the Low Emission Zone, wins the Special Prize and L’Espardenya receives the first prize
The members of Benidorm's clubs fill the streets with satire and wit in a colorful Humor Parade
The members of Benidorm's clubs filled the streets yesterday with satire and wit in a colourful and entertaining Humour Parade, which wound its way through the main streets of the city centre and featured a total of nine clubs. Organised by the Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge (Association of Social Clubs of the Virgin of Suffrage), the event kicked off shortly after 7:00 p.m. and proceeded smoothly thanks to the decision by the board of directors of the social club association, chaired by Jonathan López, to eliminate the traditional stops that the clubs had previously made to perform their skits.
Mayor Toni Pérez, along with the Councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, and numerous members of the City Council, watched the Humour Parade from the official stand and applauded and laughed at the parodies. Most of them dealt with numerous current local, regional, and national issues, primarily related to politics, festivals, or the daily life of the city itself.
From this grandstand, the 2025 Festival Queens, Paula Pascual Sánchez and Aitana Pérez Gutiérrez, along with their courts of honour, also watched the parade; as did the presidents of the Comissió and the Associació de Penyes, Susana Martínez and Jonathan López; festival organisers; and other festival participants.
Paparinell club won the José Manuel Galiana Special Prize, worth €1,200, for a parody about the implementation of the Low Emission Zone in Benidorm. The second highest-scoring group was L’Espardenya, which won first prize and €1,000 for a performance called ‘Joserra’s Dog Pound’. In third place, with the €600 second prize, was the Penya Coeters for their recreation of the burial of the Parade of Humour due to the elimination of the parade stops. Meanwhile, L’Esquirol, also with a display about the Low Emission Zone, won third prize, worth 400 euros. These awards were presented around 1:00 a.m. in the tent of SS MM los Reyes de España Square, where the festival organisers have set up their headquarters.
The other participants in the Humour Parade were L'Emtabuix, Bavallons, Sembrant Festa, El Cranc, and Che que fort!
