Education invests 47,000 euros in adapting spaces in Mestre Gaspar school for the new P2 unit
The Department of Education, headed by the mayor, Toni Pérez, has allocated just over 47,000 euros to adapt spaces in the Mestre Gaspar López school to host the new 2-year-old nursery unit created by the Department that will start this school year. Pérez explained that "the works have not been limited only to enable the interior of the classroom in the Children's pavilion, but that much of the investment has been used in preparing the courtyards at such an early age of the students of this new unit, and to correct some deficiencies transferred by the center and the educational community ".
Thus, outside has been "to correct the slopes of the playground to improve the collection of rainwater and avoid stagnation of water on rainy days," and additionally "there has been a smooth concrete treatment to all the lateral and rear area of the classroom ". In addition, the rubber of one of the game zones has been replaced; a specific area has been created with a security perimeter for students of 2 years; and the bases of the trees in the yard have been lowered and fixed to prevent falls.
Regarding the classroom, the linoleum floor has been painted, the electrical outlets and plugs have been raised, and part of the bathrooms has been adapted.
The mayor has indicated that "the work will be completed at the end of the week, about ten days before the teachers return to the classroom and more than 15 days in advance on the incorporation of students of 2 years." An incorporation, he recalled, that "will be staggered".
This new classroom will host 11 students, since after the registration process there were seven vacancies in the absence of the extraordinary admission process in September.
The mayor remarked that "as in previous years, the City Council's commitment has been to assume municipal resources with the cost of adapting these new spaces that increase the already important educational offer Benidorm offers to children 2 years". Specifically, "the three municipal nursery schools have a total of 180 desks, to which are added the four classrooms of P2 implemented by the Ministry in the last three school years in schools Puig Campana, Aitana, Vasco Núñez de Balboa and Mestre Gaspar López ".
Priority to works that favor schooling
