City Council, Government, British residents and the Tourism Sector confirm Security increase

03 November 2017
Ayuntamiento, gobierno y residentes británicos y sector turístico constatan un aumento de la seguridad

At the quarterly meeting, which was attended by the United Kingdom Consul, the measures adopted against false allegations were assessed

Benidorm City Council, the government and British residents, the tourism sector and the Security Forces have found that security levels in the city continue to increase. As every semester, all parties have held a meeting today, which was chaired by the mayor, Toni Pérez; and that has counted on the presence of the Consul of the United Kingdom in Alicante, Sarah-Jane Morris. In the same have also participated the Councilor for Citizen Security, Lorenzo Martínez; the new Commissioner of the National Police Corps, Alfredo Garrido; the Mayor of the Local Police, Juan Fuertes; the general secretary of the employers' association Hosbec, Nuria Montes; as well as representatives of the British businessmen and residents and the tour operators Jet2, TUI and Saga Holidays.

In addition in terms of security, the incorporation into the service of the Local Police of two dogs trained in the detection of narcotic substances has been positively received, and the next commissioning of the Foreign Tourist Assistance Service (SATE) in the Rincón de Loix. In addition, during the meeting have been proposed new lines of collaboration with residents and British businessmen in the city to continue to increase effectively the security and perception of it.

In the course of this ordinary meeting, the measures undertaken by the sector -especially in Benidorm- and the Government of the United Kingdom against the false accusations of some tourists against the Spanish hotel industry promoted by British law firms have been very positively assessed; as well as the rapid intervention before the disappearance of the Monarch tour operator.
