Bilbao avenue changes direction
Benidorm suppresses the passage of buses along the first line of Levante and moves the first stop to Emilio Romero
Urban buses will stop running on the first line of Levante beach from this Friday, May 22. This was announced by the Councilor for Works and Mobility, José Ramón González de Zárate, who announced that “the first stop of the urban bus in the downtown area moves to Escritor y Periodista Emilio Romero Avenue, specifically to the section between Gerona and Mediterráneo that will be open to traffic also this Friday, once the remodeling works have been completed ”.
De Zárate has indicated that “for a month and a half, due to the remodeling work on Mediterráneo Avenue, public transport has been passing through the first line of Levante, logically at very low speed because it was in coexistence with pedestrians . We said that it was a provisional measure and as far as possible we have acted to move the service and avoid the circulation of public transport in this eminently pedestrian space. ”
The councillor explained that "the new first stop on Emilio Romero Avenue is very close to Mediterráneo and practically all bus lines in the city will circulate along the avenue."
Within the distribution of traffic in the surroundings of Mediterráneo Avenue, it is also expected that the direction on Bilbao Avenue will be reversed from this Friday, which will become the exit for vehicles. In this way, vehicles travelling along the first line of Levante will be able to accede to Mediterráneo from Bilbao Avenue; "A measure that can be adopted once the passage of buses along the first line of Levante is suppressed".
