Toni Pérez makes Benidorm DTI + safe works available to the network

DTI Network celebrates its second Executive Commission

20 May 2020
La Red DTI celebra su segunda Comisión Ejecutiva

The Minister of Tourism agrees with the proposals of Benidorm: transfer safety and confidence in destinations, where innovation and technology will be essential

Today the second Executive Commission of Smart Tourist Destinations Network has been held which is composed of the Secretary of State for Tourism, Segit.tur, Red.es, FEMP and the representations of the municipalities of Benidorm, Calvià, Donostia, Pontevedra, Arona, Palencia, Avilés and San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The Minister of Tourism, Reyes Maroto, has joined this meeting.

The Minister stressed that the key to the future reactivation of tourism, in line with the postulates of Benidorm, lies in "transferring safety and confidence in tourist destinations" and that resources and initiatives must be optimized to the maximum, so that the commitment to innovation is key.

In this sense, the Mayor of Benidorm has indicated that "innovation and technology will make it easier for us to manage the new reality of tourism." For Toni Pérez, "innovation and technology must be present in all actions we undertake to minimize the risks of Covid19".

In his speech, the mayor highlighted the implementation of the roadmap to position Benidorm as DTI + safe and announced that "Benidorm makes all the work and initiatives that is adopting available to the network", He recalled that the main premise of Benidorm is that its proposals "are scalable".

There has been unanimity in the consideration that beaches will be the point of reference in the coming days and that it will be necessary to adopt "correct measures and highly agreed decisions". The minister, in this regard, went on to “protocolize the use of spaces” to achieve the objectives set to minimize risks.

The members of the Executive Commission have agreed to point out the difficulty of managing these spaces and the need for municipalities to get aid for the most effective management, due to the new management of swimming pools will also lead to a greater number of users to go to beaches, so good protocols will be necessary to use them.
