On Sunday a tribute is paid to the King of Mambo, Eddie Torres

Benidorm Summer Festival returns to make the city the world capital of salsa, bachata and kizomba

13 July 2018
El Benidorm Summer Festival vuelve a hacer de la ciudad la capital mundial de la salsa, la bachata y la kizomba

Benidorm returns to be these days, from last Saturday and until Sunday, the world capital of salsa, bachata and kizomba with Benidorm Summer Festival, which brings together participants from more than 40 nationalities - from South Korea to India - and which is divided in turn into two events: Benidorm BK Congress and Benidorm Salsa Congress. Since last July 5, the dance has filled the facilities of Gran Hotel Bali, which has hosted workshops, master classes and live shows by the best teachers, couples of international renown and dance companies.

This year is a special edition since the organization wanted to honor the one considered as the King of Mambo, Eddie Torres, who these days is actively participating in the festival giving classes and workshops. This tribute to Eddie Torres, which will take place next Sunday, July 15, will put the gold brooch to the eleventh edition of Salsa Congress.

The deputy spokesperson for the local government, Lourdes Caselles, shared a few moments with Torres and two of the organizers of Benidorm Summer Festival, Christopher Gómez, Pablo Bat and Fran Reina.

Among the cast of artists who will spend this weekend on Benidorm Summer Festival stage is that of Tropical Gem, a company that was recognized seven days ago as "the best in the world" at a Las Vegas event. In fact, the show they will offer for the first time in Spain on Saturday night is the one that gave them the title. In addition to Tropical Gem, attendees can enjoy the choreographies of Pablito and his Latin Mix, Carla Volcani, Jayson Molina, Ye Mambo, Super Mario, Felipe Polanco, Stacey Lopez, Carla Voconi, Adolfo Indacochoa, Griselle Ponce, Alberto Valdes & Andria Pagani, Afrolatin Connection, Korke & Judith and Evelyn la Negra.

It is estimated that the average cost per attendee to this event is 100 euros per day. With the 'full' passes - for all the days of the event - sold out "since the beginning of the week" and also the tickets for the night shows, the organizer of the festival has specified that there are still tickets available for the workshops of the weekend.

The deputy spokesperson encouraged "lovers of Latin dances to approach Benidorm Summer Festival, because it is a unique opportunity to see up close the best companies, the best shows and the best national and international dancers of the moment and get the good environment of an event that year after year turns Benidorm into a reference and that is able to attract thousands of people ".
