The four-year contract aims to promote quality concerts that generate economic impact on the city and its productive fabric
Benidorm is putting out to tender the celebrations of events at Martínez Munuera football fields during the summer season

Benidorm City Council is putting out to tender a contract to hold events during the summer season at the former Foietes athletics track, now converted into the Hermanos Martínez Munuera football fields. The Local Government Board (LGB) has approved putting this contract out to tender for a four-year period, which would run from the summer of 2026 to 2029.
The Councillor for Events, Jesús Carrobles, explained that this contract aims to "encourage Benidorm to host renowned and impactful musical events at these facilities, taking advantage of the fact that sporting activities at these fields are suspended during the summer, and also taking advantage of their potential as a multifunctional venue." "And all of this," he added, "is intended to generate a direct economic impact on the city, benefiting the entire productive sector, from accommodation to commerce, including restaurants, leisure, and transportation; while also amplifying the promotion of Benidorm among a very interesting target audience for our tourism interests."
Carrobles stated that "the venue meets the conditions to host concerts for up to 20,000 spectators" and recalled that during the works to convert the facilities into soccer fields, "improvements were made to accommodate future events and maximise the performance and functionality of these spaces, with minimal impact."
The councillor stated that “the experience of other cities, such as Alicante, Murcia, and Marbella, confirms the success of this format,” and hence the same formula has been followed: leaving the operation of the venue in the hands of a company that ensures a quality musical offering with nationally and internationally renowned artists and that is also responsible for providing the venue with innovative infrastructure that provides an additional attraction.” The successful bidder will therefore be responsible for setting up the necessary infrastructure for the events organised by itself or by other interested producers.
According to the specifications, the company will be required to organise a minimum of three massive events of between 10,000 and 20,000 people each summer and a maximum of five; as well as a minimum of three and a maximum of five with fewer than 10,000 attendees.
Carrobles highlighted that “the novelty of this specification lies in the fact that for the first time the City Council will obtain a direct benefit from these events, since The company must pay a minimum fixed amount of €0.50 per spectator." This means that the municipal coffers will receive at least €20,000, a figure that could triple or more depending on the number of events, plus "the expenditure that attendees incur in the city."
The assembly and disassembly of the existing infrastructure and sports equipment at the venue to adapt it to its intended use will also be the responsibility of the successful bidder. The bidder will return the facilities to their original state once the annual lease period ends in the summer.
